Ulster Wool – Depot Update

Ulster Wool’s grading depot and network of drop off locations across Northern Ireland provide a service to all producers regardless of type and quality of wool produced, volume or location.  These sites provide an important service and it’s encouraging to see wool being delivered this season from producers who did not deliver wool in 2020.

Once the wool has been delivered, every fleece is individually graded which determines the grade and quality.  Grading every fleece adds value to the producer as this separates the better quality from the poorer with the better quality wool achieving a higher price which is then returned to the producer

All Northern Ireland wool is independently tested for micron, colour and dry yield (the latter is the weight left after the wool is scoured & washed) before it can sold at auction.  Testing the wool to international standards gives the buyers confidence in the high quality of wool and in the product they are buying.

We’d encourage all producers who have not delivered wool so far this season to make contact with our depot and drop off sites to arrange delivery.  By delivering your wool into Ulster Wool this year you will benefit from the continuing price recovery at auction.
