Meet Jayne one of our joint Depot Managers
The Depot Managers play a key role within the depot structure. They are responsible for maintaining a good standard of member engagement and ensuring a high level of service to members at the depots. The Depot Managers role is varied and includes many key tasks at the depot including:
- Dealing with member calls - booking in wool and other general enquiries.
- Managing the intake of wool to the depot from members, hauliers and drop-off sites.
- Responsible for sharing key messages within the region around Ulster Wool’s important role in supporting its members.
- Keeping member accounts up to date on the Ulster Wool database.
Jayne Harkness Bones
My name is Jayne Harkness-Bones, I am based in the Muckamore Grading Depot and have been with Ulster Wool since August 2016. I am in a joint Depot Manager role working closely with Stephen Preston.
Between us we manage the main day-to-day running of the depot, striving to provide the best customer service to our farmers as we can, meanwhile ensuring we have a happy team at the depot.
I also manage all shearing training courses here in Northern Ireland and keep close communication with our Regional Committee Members and Ulster Wool Growers Board members.
I also sit on the recently established ‘Irish Grown Wool Council’ and work in the ‘wool quality & presentation’ sub-group.
If I’m not in the office I’ll be on the farm with my dad, or in the summer taking part in wool handling competitions up and down the UK. I play drums in my spare time, go for walks or out on my bike, and enjoy a BBQ during a nice evening. I’m a member of the ‘Worshipful Company of Woolmen’ and looking forward to walking some sheep across London Bridge later in the year!
