Meet Stephen One Of Our Joint Depot Managers
The Depot Managers play a key role within the depot structure. They are responsible for maintaining a good standard of member engagement and ensuring a high level of service to members at the depots. The Depot Managers role is varied and includes many key tasks at the depot including:
- Dealing with member calls - booking in wool and other general enquiries.
- Managing the intake of wool to the depot from members, hauliers and drop-off sites.
- Responsible for sharing key messages within the region around Ulster Wool’s important role in supporting its members.
- Keeping member accounts up to date on the Ulster Wool database.
My name is Stephen Preston, I am based in the Muckamore Grading Depot and have been with Ulster Wool since 2001. I am in a joint Depot Manager role working closely with Jayne Harness Bones.
I am 44 years old, I started working for Ulster Wool in 2001. My first role was in intake, and I did this for 2 years after that I moved on to packing/bailing. I then became a grader before becoming the depot manager in 2017.
My role consists of spending time in the office first thing and then grading for the remainder of the day. I ensure everything runs smoothly and all staff are working efficiently to get the maximum weight graded and ensure intake keeps moving with no delays to our members.
I have worked at Ulster Wool for 23 years
In my spare time, I have a couple of excavators which I do work for farmers like draining and all the other types of digger work.
