WORKING ON BEHALF OF OUR MEMBERS
Our mission is to drive sustainable demand for Northern Irish wool in order to maximise returns for our members.

Interested in becoming a shareholder of Ulster Wool Growers?

Ulster Wool Growers was set up in 1952 as a Co-op, by a large group of sheep farmers who were dissatisfied with the price they were receiving for their wool from private buyers.

Since that time, right up to the present day, Ulster Wool Growers has always been owned by shareholder wool producers who send their wool crop to the depot in Muckamore to be graded and marketed for sale at the fortnightly auctions held in the head office in Bradford.

Ulster Wool Growers is responsible for looking after shareholder interests including:

  • A 50% stake in the collection depot at Muckamore. The other 50% is owned by British Wool.
  • 100% ownership of Greenmount Country Stores.
  • Supplying printed bales for wool.
  • Supplying preprinted labels to suppliers.
  • Supporting shearers.
  • Sponsoring shearing competitions.

The company is now looking to expand its membership again to qualifying wool producers.
